On 10th October 2024, GSI Associates proudly sponsored the “Dark Side of HR” event, organized by Kosova Job and Humanpower, a profound exploration into the complexities and challenges of the modern workplace. Held in Prishtina, this gathering brought together more than 270 participants and a distinguished panel of twelve speakers who illuminated some of the most pressing issues in human resources today. As sponsors, we were not only proud to support this vital discourse but also to participate actively as audience members, gaining invaluable insights from the experts on stage.
The discussions ranged from tackling mental health in high-stress work environments to understanding the implications of HR technology and the role it plays in shaping the future of work. Themes of inclusivity, transparency and the ever-present challenge of balancing employee satisfaction with organisational goals were prominent throughout the evening.
Topics were all very much in point from everyday challenges of people who work in HR, like:
- “All the things I wish I knew before I became HR”
- “The transformation of challenges in development – the positive approach of the dark side of HR”
- “Procedural discrimination in recruitment”
- “Employment, promotion, demotion and dismissal – the dark cycle of HR”
- “The difficulties in performance evaluation”
- “Balancing data-based decisions with human intervention”
- “Human Resources balance between support and layoffs”
- “Lack of human resources budget – how to achieve more with less?”
- “When transparency breaks boundaries”
- “Silent burnout of people in HR”
- “There are no easy and quick victories”
In addition to the enriching discussions, the “Dark Side of HR” had a charitable component, with all proceeds from the event being donated to two remarkable organisations: SOS Children’s Villages Kosovo and Down Syndrome Kosova. These charities are doing exceptional work in supporting vulnerable children and communities and we are honoured to contribute to their missions through our sponsorship.
As we reflect on the event, it is clear that the conversation surrounding HR is evolving and events like these are crucial in fostering dialogue and driving change. We are proud to have been part of this dynamic forum and look forward to continuing our support for such important initiatives in the future.
At GSI Associates, we believe that understanding the complexities of human resources is key to creating workplaces that not only thrive but also empower every individual within them. The “Dark Side of HR” event was a powerful reminder of the work that still needs to be done, and we are committed to being part of that journey.
